About the Orchestra

The Essex Concert Orchestra performs popular programmes three or four times a year.

Works included in the programmes are typically preceded by a short verbal analysis presented by the conductor, during which sections of the Orchestra may play selected excerpts before the performance in full. This has become the Orchestra's popular characteristic style of performance.

The Orchestra is a "not for profits" organisation and, as such, occasionally makes donations to charities. Last year, for example, it made a donation to the RNLI, and more recently dedicated its St. George's Day baroque concerts in support of the Mayor's Charities.

Essex Concert Orchestra is made up of some 70 top musicians from the Essex area. These individuals include professional performers, students at prominent London and Essex music colleges, and local music teachers.
